SILVER SALMON ARE FOUND IN COASTAL WATERS OF ALASKA FROM SOUTHEAST TO POINT HOPE ON THE CHUKCHI SEA AND IN THE YUKON RIVER TO THE ALASKA-YUKON BORDER. SILVER SALMON OCCUR IN NEARLY ALL ACCESSIBLE BODIES OF FRESH WATER. SILVER SALMON SALMON HAS RICH, REDDISH-ORANGE MEAT AND HAS BEEN CALLED ONE OF THE BEST TASTING SALMON. FISHING RED SALMON ON KODIAK

HALIBUT
Halibut fishing on Kodiak Island is a fantastic saltwater experience! Alaska Halibut are very high on the list of fish to pursue for the majority of anglers, because Halibut is known as one of the mildest tasting fish in the oceans.

PINK SALMON ARE THE SMALLEST OF THE PACIFIC SALMON FOUND IN NORTH AMERICA. AS WITH ALL MEMBERS OF THE SALMON FAMILY, PINK SALMON ARE COLDWATER FISH. THEY ARE ALSO THE MOST NUMEROUS PACIFIC SALMON AND HAVE BEEN HARVESTED AND CANNED COMMERCIALLY IN ALASKA SINCE THE LATE 1800’S.
THE FISHING TIME FOR PINK SALMON IS FROM THE MIDDLE OF JULY TILL THE MIDDLE OF SEPTEMBER.
THE BEST FISHING TIME FOR PINK SALMON ON KODIAK IS THREE FIRST WEEKS OF AUGUST.
FISHING CHUM SALMON ON KODIAK
CHUM SALMON FROM KODIAK ISLAND CAN BE THE BEST VALUE ON THE MARKET WHEN THE SKIN IS BRIGHT AND THE MEAT DEEP RED. SINCE MOST CHUM SALMON SPAWNS NEAR RIVER MOUTHS IN ALASKA, THEY HAVE LOWER OIL CONTENT THAN KING SALMON, SILVER SALMON OR RED SALMON.
THE BEST FISHING TIME FOR CHUM SALMON ON KODIAK IS JULY – THE FIRST WEEK OF AUGUST, BUT IN GENERAL FISHING IS POSSIBLE FROM MIDDLE JUNE TILL THE END OF AUGUST.
